And there were more!

Flamingoes were not the only attraction at Sewri!

A seagull cruising towards the city that never sleeps!

I'm not having a great feather day!

Flamingo Fiesta!

Enjoyed an interesting afternoon with Dad capturing Flamingoes with the new SLR at Sewri (in Mumbai). At least 3000 'Lesser Flamingoes' were enjoying their holiday in Mumbai. They migrate to Sewri from the Rann of Kutch from January to March every year.

Aal Izz Well

Dabbling with my new camera - we all make mistakes. Used the wrong combination of lenses but all's well that ends well! Isn't this pic surreal?

Owl in the Bathroom!

I walk into the bathroom with a bucket and towel
And I'm greeted by Mr or Ms Owl
His or Her red eyes glow in the dark
And he or she treats the shower rod as a bark!

Srinagar's Mughal Gardens - no words to describe the beauty

Shikara on Dal Lake

The beauty of Kashmir was overpowering. It's a memory I'll cherish forever. The sheer untouched beauty has proudly come out of the militancy and repression. It redefines beauty! Here is a vegetable seller on a Shikara in Dal Lake.

The fading line between dark and light

It amazes me how Sunset manifests in so many forms whether it is the shimmering orange sky reflecting on the lake as in many of my other posts or as in this sight, casting a shadow on the earth and making one go philosophical about life, the universe and everything.

Life is good :)

A visit to my native village Kodimangalam was an eye opener. Life is extremely luxurious in Mumbai.

Blogging after a very long time...I'm happy to be back :)

A Cup of Coffee :)

I finally have a bit of time to peacefully sip a cup of coffee without attending to a phone call or signing a paper or proof reading content or answering queries simultaneously!

Blogging after a very long time...I'm back :)

Dance - Devotion and Passion

Offering made to the God of Dance, Lord Nataraja before commencing the performance.

A culmination of years of passion, commitment and nurturing... An art form that rids the mind of all worries, refreshes the senses and rejuvenates the spirit... Bharatanatyam gives me a sense of satisfaction that is surreal. I just realised I've never blogged about the one passion that'll remain close to my heat as long as I live. I just enjoy learning this art form. The intricate footwork or nritta is based on rigorous training since childhood. The nuances of abhinaya or expressions are extremely challenging to portray. Years of exploring , experience and empathy make the perfect bhaavam or feeling radiate through every nerve and the perfect movements glide through every muscle in the body as a dancer performs.

“Yatho hasta thatho drishti;
Yatho drishti thatho manah;
Yatho manah thatho bhava;
Yatho bhava thatho rasa.”

"Where the hand goes, the eye follows;
Where the eye goes, the mind follows;
Where the mind goes, is the heart;
Where the heart is, lies the reality of being."

Hinduism in Bali...

90% Balinese are Hindu! But, it's amazing how different their culture is different from ours!! They actually give cigarettes as offerings to God. The pictures are worth a thousand words!!!

Evenings at Lakeside...

The perfect break to unwind amidst the peak of stress and pressure. This is one of my favourite places in IIT. The serene beauty of sunset and the calm breeze over the waters is unbelievably soothing!!

An angel, a miracle...

This is one of those posts that is very close to my heart...

A week in Singapore was made so meaningful by this angel, my cousin Vaibhav. One of the most adorable kids ever, he is a bundle of affection! Always making everyone around him smile by his boundless love, he is a joy to be with! A master of mimicry, he sang out in joy and laughed like there was nothing funnier in the world! It's a miracle how that one three-year- old kept at least five adults on their feet at every point during the day! After returning, there seemed to be a void that can't be filled in by anything except Vaibhav's innocence and affection!

"The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone."
~George Elliot

Missing you.. come visit again!!!
